Rotherham ACL Strategy

The Rotherham Adult Community Learning Strategy 2005-10 and the delivery plan for 2005-06 is currently in development.

The strategy will focus on the delivery of the key priorities for Adults in the Rotherham Community Strategy (Learning theme); the Rotherham Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy , and the LSCSY ACL framework.

The ACL annual delivery plan (coming soon) describes activities to be undertaken by the partners to deliver on the key priorities described in the Rotherham Lifelong Learning Annual Plan and the Community and Neighbourhood Renewal Strategies.

In brief the priorities from these strategies that will shape and impact on Adult community learning are;

Addressing the local skills shortage
Encouraging more local people to become involved in learning and training
Reducing the number of working age adults lacking essential skills – reading, writing, numeracy and ICT
Taking advantage of new technology and culture and leisure activities to maximise learning and development
Supporting parents, schools, colleges and communities to raise aspirations, as well as educational and learning achievements
Enhancing the information, support and guidance available to learners
