New Developments

The Rotherham Connected Community Project is now also looking at:

More community and learning centre hotspots with flexible wireless equipment and informal user support

Community models (such as that of DART) to deliver a wide area wireless solution to local centres, with applications hosting and technical support

Choice of client applications, such as ‘office’ tools, from both proprietary vendors and the Open Source community

Exploitation of virtual classroom and community content as reusable resources through the network

Linkages with key developments outside the Borough, involving such as Robin Hood Airport, the English Institute of Sport and Doncaster Knowledge Exchange
Last but not least, a longer period of service operation, providing real opportunity to develop sustainable plans involving the broadband suppliers and community partnerships as well as RMBC and RGfL.
